Current News:

NOTICE OF CONGREGATIONAL MEETING AUGUST 18, 2019 FOLLOWING WORSHIP – The Church Council is calling a congregational meeting Aug. 18, 2019 following worship to discuss our congregation’s response to Texas Senate Bill 535, “Relating to the carrying of a handgun by a license holder on the premises of certain places of religious worship,” that strikes churches from Texas Penal Code 30.06, 30.07 as places handguns are prohibited. This law goes into effect Sept. 1, 2019. If the congregation does not want concealed or open carry handguns, signs as specified by law need to be posted. The Council wants this decision to be made by the congregation since the safety of the community is of concern.

Education News:

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION CLASSES – Classes will begin on Sunday, September 1, at 9:30 a.m.  Please mark your calendars and commit to feeding your faith every Sunday!

Youth will meet in their classrooms as follows:

    • 2yrs-PreK will meet in the nursery for study and play with Ms. Tealithia.
    • Kinder through 5th grade will meet in the Elementary Room.
    • Middle and High School Youth will meet in the High School Room.

Adult Christian Education for everyone will meet in the Café and be facilitated by Pastor Skip:

“How the Bible Actually Works” Author, Peter Enns makes clear that there is no one right way to read the Bible. Moving us beyond the damaging idea that “being right” is the most important measure of faith, Enns’s freeing approach to Bible study helps us to instead focus on pursuing enlightenment and building our relationship with God—which is exactly what the Bible was designed to do.

Adult Women’s Christian Education will meet in the office Conference Room to study the book:

“Love Life Again: Finding Joy When Life is Hard” – Author, Tracie Miles reminds readers they each get only one life to live and inspires them not to take it for granted. Through compelling personal stories and powerful insights from Scripture, she helps women identify the stumbling blocks to their joy and offers tools and insights to take back control of their happiness. Every chapter ends with a practical call to action to motivate readers to begin loving their lives again.

TUESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY – Will resume on September 10th from 6:30-8:00pm. Please join in any time you can!

“Manna and Mercy: A Brief History of God’s Unfolding Promise to Mend the Entire Universe” Author, Daniel Erlander describes this as a book about God—more specifically the God of the Bible who is present and active in human history and all creation. Using Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection as our guide, we journey through all of Scripture to reclaim its message of life, justice, and inclusion for all people.

THURSDAY MORNING STUDY GROUP – Is on break until September.
