NOTICE OF CONGREGATIONAL MEETING AUGUST 18, 2019 FOLLOWING WORSHIP – The Church Council is calling a congregational meeting Aug. 18, 2019 following worship to discuss our congregation’s response to Texas Senate Bill 535, “Relating to the carrying of a handgun by a license holder on the premises of certain places of religious worship,” that strikes churches from Texas Penal Code 30.06, 30.07 as places handguns are prohibited. This law goes into effect Sept. 1, 2019. If the congregation does not want concealed or open carry handguns, signs as specified by law need to be posted. The Council wants this decision to be made by the congregation since the safety of the community is of concern.
