ANGEL TREE SPONSOR A FAMILY – Lord of Life is sponsoring the same families for the holidays as last December and over the summer. Take an Angel off the tree to purchase a clothing item or toy/gift for a family member. Returned UNWRAPPED item by Dec 12 (with gift receipt for clothing inside). If you took a tag – please let Jacque Wachsmann know what you selected so she can make sure all members are covered (jwachs59@gmail.com). Let’s make the holidays special for these families.

POINSETTIAS – Please help us beautify our sanctuary on Christmas Eve by purchasing a poinsettia! Envelopes are available in the Welcome Center for the next few Sundays. To purchase one, fill out the envelope and place it in the ushers’ baskets on the way out on Sunday mornings, or contact Kelley in the church office. This year we are ordering our poinsettias from BIG, the Brookwood community in Georgetown, an organization that helps adults with special needs. This is a link to their website. The cost per plant is $13.50 with all proceeds going to BIG. You can pay the full amount of $13.50, or pay $10 per plant and the church will cover the rest (as we’ve subsidized in past years). The deadline to order is Sunday, Dec. 16. You can pick up your plant(s) and take it home any time after the 7:30 service on Christmas Eve. If you have any questions, please contact the church office or Deb Grunska.

CHURCH & TREE DECORATING – We will decorate the church and Christmas tree, and hang the outside lights on our deck, on Saturday, Dec. 8, at  2 PM. We’d love to have everyone come join us for this fun time!

MEN’S FELLOWSHIP BREAKFAST – The next Men’s Fellowship Breakfast will be on Saturday, December 8th at 8:00 am in the café.  All men, young and old, are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Contact Mark Waggoner at waggmar@gmail.com  or 512-800-5412.

CAROLING, COOKIES & COCOA – Neighborhood Caroling is on Sunday, Dec. 9. Meet at the church at 5:30 pm, then we will go caroling in the Davis Springs Neighborhood and return to the church for hot cocoa, cider and cookies. Wearing Christmas colors and Santa hats are encouraged.

CAROLING TO HOME-BOUND MEMBERS – The choir will be singing to our Home-Bound members on Dec. 16 from 1:00 – 5:00; we will meet at the church around 12:45. We would like to invite everyone to join us! We have so much fun visiting and singing to our home-bound members; and they love having us come sing to them! Please consider joining us. We sing classic Christmas hymns; no need to know harmonies – just feel free to sing along with the melody.

ELCA GOOD GIFTS – Again this year, on Dec. 30 and Jan. 6, we’ll have ELCA Good Gifts ornaments on our Christmas trees. Please consider taking an ornament and purchasing what you select. Place a check for the cost of the ornament you select in the offering plate, indicating in the Notes section what you are purchasing. This is a wonderful opportunity to help the ELCA address world hunger. There will be ELCA Good Gifts catalogs in the Worship Center or visit their website at https://community.elca.org/elcagoodgifts.

SPECIAL HIGH CHURCH SERVICE – We will hold a special High Church service on Jan. 6. This is the style of worship familiar to Martin Luther and the early Lutherans. We hope you will be able to join us for this special service at both the early and late services on Jan. 6.

  • ADULT BIBLE STUDY – “Accidental Saints: Finding God in All the Wrong People” by Nadia Bolz-Weber. WHAT IF THE PERSON YOU’VE BEEN TRYING TO AVOID IS YOUR BEST SHOT AT GRACE TODAY? … AND WHAT IF THAT IS THE POINT? … God keeps showing up in the least likely of people–a church-loving agnostic, a drag queen, a felonious Bishop, and a gun-toting member of the NRA. In a time when many have rightly become disillusioned with Christianity, Accidental Saints demonstrates what happens when ordinary people share bread and wine, struggle with scripture together, and tell each other the truth about their real lives. This unforgettable account of their faltering steps toward wholeness will ring true for believer and skeptic alike. This study will meet in the Café at 9:30.
  • WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY – The women’s study starting this fall will explore the book, 31 Verses to Write on Your Heart by Liz Curtis Higgs. Join us as we delve into some favorite verses for a deeper understanding while working on finding time with God each and every day. This study will meet in the Office Conference room at 9:30 join us when you can!

TUESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY – Bible Study on the book of Mark, continues Tuesdays from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Café.
