  • ADULT BIBLE STUDY – “Accidental Saints: Finding God in All the Wrong People” by Nadia Bolz-Weber. WHAT IF THE PERSON YOU’VE BEEN TRYING TO AVOID IS YOUR BEST SHOT AT GRACE TODAY? … AND WHAT IF THAT IS THE POINT? … God keeps showing up in the least likely of people–a church-loving agnostic, a drag queen, a felonious Bishop, and a gun-toting member of the NRA. In a time when many have rightly become disillusioned with Christianity, Accidental Saints demonstrates what happens when ordinary people share bread and wine, struggle with scripture together, and tell each other the truth about their real lives. This unforgettable account of their faltering steps toward wholeness will ring true for believer and skeptic alike. This study will meet in the Café at 9:30.
  • WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY – The women’s study starting this fall will explore the book, 31 Verses to Write on Your Heart by Liz Curtis Higgs. Join us as we delve into some favorite verses for a deeper understanding while working on finding time with God each and every day. This study will meet in the Office Conference room at 9:30 join us when you can!

TUESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY – Bible Study on the book of Mark, continues Tuesdays from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Café.

THURSDAY MORNING STUDY GROUP – Thursdays at 9:45 am in the Lakeline Target snack bar. (*Note* – you will enter Target at the opposite end from before). We will be studying Jonah, the whale guy: a study about Grace. I already have the books and hope to see you all there. Contact: Marge Kretschmar, mdkretschmar@gmail.com, for more information.

One Year to Live Men’s Retreat in October—Register Early for the One Year to Live Retreat October 26-28 at Camp Chrysalis

The ELCA’s Lutheran Men in Mission sponsors One Year to Live Retreats for men all across the nation.  We are fortunate this year to have a retreat at Camp Chrysalis (between Bandera and Kerrville, TX) on October 26-28, 2018.  These retreats provide men with an opportunity to spend time away together and to come closer in their walk with Christ.  They have been described as life-changing weekends; recognizing, embracing, and living confidently through God’s grace.  About 15 to 25 participants attend each retreat.  Early (discounted) registration is $195 by Saturday, September 15.  Regular registration is $225, due October 8.  There are sponsorships for men between 20 and 30 years of age.  These sponsorships will pay up to 90% of the registration fee. The registration includes two nights lodging, five meals, and retreat materials.

Prayerfully consider being one of the men to take advantage of this spiritual awakening.  You can find a brochure and more information at www.lutheranmeninmission.org.
